We collect data from students who have registered with and use the Services (“Students”) and from schools, administrators, and teachers that have acquired access to and use the Services (collectively, “Educators”).  Examples of the information Students and Educators may provide are:

  • Names
  • Email addresses 
  • Physical addresses 
  • Phone numbers
  • Grade levels of Students 
  • Payment methods and/or financial account information
  • Comments on forums or other messaging functions on the Services  

We do not collect any data defined as “educational records” under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”). We do collect data about Students defined as “directory information” under FERPA, including Students’ names, grade levels, email addresses, and dates of attendance. At any time, parents or guardians of Students under the age of 18, and Students over the age of 18, have the right to contact us or those Students’ Educators in order to restrict our collection of those Students’ directory information. Information We Automatically Collect

When you use the Services, we and/or our third-party services providers may automatically collect information about how you use the Services and the devices you use to access the Services. Examples of the information collected automatically include Users’ IP address, access URL, time of access, browser type, and usage data about how you interact with the Services. We also collect Students’ performance data as they use the tools on the Services.

2. How We Use Information & Lawful Bases

  • Provide Students’ data about usage of the Services to those Students’ Educators

  • Analyze use of the Services and personalize content
  • Prevent, detect, investigate and respond to fraud, unauthorized access/use of the Services, breaches of terms and policies, or other wrongful behavior

We keep your information for the period required to complete the purposes for which it is processed and to satisfy legal retention requirements. The length of time for which we retain information depends on the purposes for which we collected and use it and the requirements of applicable laws.

A Student’s performance data from his or her usage of the Services may be shared with Educators from the school that Student attends. 

Services Providers

We employ other companies and people to perform tasks on our behalf and need to share information with them so they can perform tasks, including hosting, cloud services, email delivery, business administration, and payment processing. 

Public Information 

Any information Users may disclose on public areas of the Services, including through comments or other messaging functions, becomes public information accessible to other Users. 

Business Transfers

We may choose to buy or sell assets and may share or transfer user information (including personal information) in connection with the evaluation of and entry into such transactions. Also, if we (or our assets) are acquired, or if we go out of business, enter bankruptcy, or go through some other change of control, user information could be one of the assets transferred to or acquired by a third party.
